Migraine Associated Dizziness

What is migraine associated with dizziness?

Typically, a migraine causes:

  • Headache symptoms; throbbing or pulsing
  • Feeling sick; nausea
  • Sensitivity to light and sound

Balance symptoms are experienced by about 1/3 of people with migraines. These symptoms may include:

  • Dizziness
  • Sensitivity to visual motion in the environment
  • Sensitivity to head and body movement

Migraine associated dizziness is a form of migraine, in which balance symptoms occur with a migraine. Many people with migraine associated dizziness experience these symptoms during “headache free” periods.

Lifestyle Factors that may help reduce frequency of attacks

  1. Regular sleep patterns (including weekends)
  2. Regular Meals which include vegetables, proteins and carbohydrates. Low blood sugar can trigger attacks.
  3. Moderate amounts of routine exercise
  4. Avoiding dehydration
  5. Limiting caffeine and alcohol
  6. Reducing Stress
